Abstract

This research aims to understand how
WhatsApp interferes in the productive
routine of Correio Popular newspaper,
the first and only newspaper in Im-
peratriz (MA) that is distributed using
this app’s. To fulfil the proposed ob-
jectives, the study included three
stages for field insertion: newsroom
everyday routine appreciation; inter-
views conducted with the staff; and
participant observation. Based on eth-
nographic precepts, the researchers’
insertion in the newspaper routine
happened between October and No-
vember 2017 and it was held in differ-
ent shifts to allow full description and
analysis of the newsroom work. The
script for observation and argument
was guided by two thematic pillars, fo-
cusing on the app interference: work
distribution and routine. Conclusively,
the results show the app has redefined
some traditional methods of gather-
ing and disclosingfacts.
