Abstract

This article analyzes how Bra-
zilian undergraduate courses
in Journalism have incorpo-
rated the education for citi-
zenship advocated in the
new National Curricular
Guidelines. For this purpose,
we carried out an exploratory
research based on Pedagog-
ical Projects of 28 public uni-
versities and identified the
strategies adopted in each
Institution of Higher Educa-
tion to educate journalists as
agents of the citizenship, and
this considering the changes
of the journalist's role facing
his current challenges, which
transcend the ethics of the
profession and place access
to information and commu-
nication as social rights.
