Abstract

This text is a review of the book Ombudsman in Brazilian Journalism, organized by journalists and professors Elaine Javorski and Sérgio Gadini. Published by Editora Insular in 2018, the work brings together the reports of journalists who propagate the role of ombudsman in Brazilian newspapers according to their experiences, challenges and achievements. The collection is chronologically organized and brings together 30 years of media criticism history, offering a valuable overview of the evolution of the activity, which began with Folha de S. Paulo in 1989. The book expands the debate on the role of the ombudsman in newspapers, analyzes the role of media criticism in society and provides relevant information for journalism students and professionals in the field.
